Namaste Foods is not a new name to the gluten-free community. We’ve been using their baking mixes for years to make gluten and allergen-free meals and treats. In fact, Namaste just celebrated their 11-year anniversary last February.
Namaste was very helpful to me in the early years just after my diagnosis. Today much of my baking is from scratch, but gluten-free baking took a long time for me to figure out. In fact, I’m still trying to figure it out. Thankfully, Namaste is there to help newbies and veterans alike by providing easy to use, allergen-free mixes for cakes, muffins, cookies, bread, brownies, frosting, pancakes, biscuits, and so much more. They even have three pasta dishes that can be whipped up in a snap.
And everything is made in a dedicated facility free of gluten, wheat, potato, soy, corn, dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, and casein.
I recently tried three Namaste products that I’d like to share with you, and then you can enter to win the Namaste Giveaway in the comment section below!
I whipped up a batch of these cookie bars in a snap, and the only disappointment that came was when I found out that I was out of Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips to stir into the batter. Namaste’s website has some great recipes to use with this product:
But I didn’t use a recipe, because I wanted to taste the purity of the product.
Okay, and I was lazy, but that’s when a simple Namaste mix comes in handy.
Since I really was having a chocolate hankerin’, I squeezed a little chocolate icing on top before cutting the blondies into bars.
I’m still trying to decide if blondies taste better fresh from the oven or right from the freezer.
If they tasted great with this simple preparation, I can only imagine how amazing they’d taste with a little forethought!
Sugar-Free Muffin Mix
I was really excited about trying this product because it’s one of eight of their sugar-free mixes. The sweetness in this muffin mix comes from sweet brown rice flour and any other ingredients you wish to add. That’s one of the best things about many of Namaste’s mixes. They provide a blank canvas on which you can paint your culinary heart out!
Sugar-Free Muffin Mix Ingredients: Sweet brown rice flour, brown rice flour, tapioca flour, arrowroot flour, rice milk powder, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, xanthan gum, salt, and ground vanilla bean
I chose to make Cranberry Orange Oatmeal Muffins, and I’ll share the recipe with you later this week.
I must say, this was the product I thought I would like the least as it reminded me of Hamburger Helper…add your own meat and you’ve got a meal in a box (or brown bag, in this case)! But Pasta Pisavera turned out to be my favorite. Another sugar-free product, this pasta meal is tasty on its own, or you can add your own flavorful flair.
Pasta Pisavera Ingredients: Vegetable pasta (brown rice, spinach powder, tomato powder, carrot powder, water), shelled hemp seed, tomato powder, salt, granulated garlic, Italian seasoning, granulated onion, silicon dioxide (to prevent caking)
I used this mix to make this delicious, fresh Greek Veggie Pasta dish.
The pasta held together through the boiling and the mixing of the other ingredients. It had a nice consistency and a mild flavor on its own. But with the spice packet and a few of my favorite ingredients, I had an entree worth tweeting about. I could have played with the contents of my spice rack to come up with a flavor that I loved, but Namaste already did that for me. The secret is truly in the spice packet. And after refrigerating the dish overnight, the noodles were just as friendly the next day. Often gluten-free noodles tend to stick together in leftovers, but these did not.
Again, this recipe is coming soon!
