Friday’s Find: Pure Bar

Happy Friday!  I found today’s Friday’s Find in the Nashville International Airport.  No, I didn’t find them at Hudson News.  I found them through a Twitter follower.  Waiting for my plane, I read a tweet that gushed about Pure Bars.  I tweeted back in agreement thinking that my friend was tweeting about a bar I had tried a while back.  When I did a little research, I realized that I had never actually had a Pure Bar, and I needed to figure out what was so incredible about them.

The wrong has since been righted.  I ordered a variety pack of Pure Bars, and I can guarantee you that it will be the first of many orders.  Because Pure Bars are truly something to Tweet about.

Gluten-Free.  Raw.  Vegan.  Purely Organic.

Pure Bars come in five different flavors, and I can’t even tell you which one is my favorite.  They are all incredible.

Okay, well you can’t fault me for highly favoring the Chocolate Brownie Bar.  With bars like this, who needs to bake a pan of brownies?  Every bite had a delicious chocolate flavor accented with chunky walnuts.

And take a look at these ingredients:  Organic Dates, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Rice Protein Concentrate, Organic Cashews, Organic Cocoa, Organic Almonds, Organic, Walnuts, and that’s all!

Okay, so maybe the Chocolate Brownie is at the top of the list because of my love of chocolate, but the other flavors are all close seconds.

Do you remember Blueberry Fig Newtons?  This Wild Blueberry Bar reminds me of that.  It is sweet and soft with fewer nuts than the other bars.

The Cranberry Orange Bar has one of my favorite flavor combinations.  That refreshing citrus taste intertwined with the tanginess of cranberries is almost as magical as chocolate and peanut butter in my opinion.

The Apple Cinnamon Bar is chewy with little bits of apple and crunchy pieces of walnuts, cashews, and almonds.

Apple pie in a bar.

The Cherry Cashew Bar has a pleasant cherry taste with big chunks of cashews, walnuts, and almonds and big dried cherries that you can sink your teeth into.

So they are all delicious and made from natural, organic ingredients, but how do the nutritional facts stack up?

  • 180-190 calories per bar
  • 7-8 grams of fat
  • 3-4 grams of fiber
  • 5-7 grams of protein

This is a bar that I can stand behind.  If you haven’t had a chance to try a Pure Bar, you can order a Pure Bar Organic Variety Packhere and see which flavor is your favorite.

Do you have a favorite snack bar?  Or do your favorites (like mine) change daily?

I love the idea of the pure bar (packaging, ingredients, nutritionals). I tried the cherry flavor and wasn’t wowed. Should I try the chocolate?

    • Heather says:

Yes, yes, and yes! Definitely try the chocolate. I had a feeling you’d like this company. Did you know that you’re one of my barometers for my Friday’s Finds? I ask myself, “Would Lauren approve?” :)

  2. Annakate says:

Yum! I’m not gluten-free or vegan but I don’t eat much meat anymore and am always looking for healthy sources of protein in bar-form. I’m going to look out for these as well! Thanks for sharing…

I hope you like them! I’ve been living on Pure Bars lately as I’ve been traveling a lot! Good to hear from you, Annakate! I hope you’re doing well!

A Curious Girl in the Gluten-Free World

I'm a curious girl, wife, teacher, fitness fanatic, gluten-free foodie, high-raw vegan, and Mama Cat living in NYC. I've made the transition from baking and cooking gluten-free to creating raw vegan recipes that are naturally gluten free. My gluten intolerance opened up my diet to a whole new world of nutritious plant-based foods. While I'm not 100% vegan, it's my favorite way to eat, and making and sharing raw foods makes me giddy. Living in the City has its joys and challenges, and I enjoy sharing my experiences with you.
