Gluten-Free Breakfast at The Pfunky Griddle!

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to share this Pfunky little restaurant with you.  I’m always excited to hear about small, local restaurants offering gluten-free options, especially for breakfast.  And when I heard about The Pfunky Griddle I knew I had to try it ASAP.

My favorite meal of the day is breakfast.  And my favorite Saturday treat used to be going out for a leisurely breakfast.  Why?  Because every other day of the week I’m eating breakfast on the run.  But also because I loved all of the glutenous breakfast foods like pancakes, muffins, and waffles.  After changing to a gluten-free diet, breakfast at a restaurant just wasn’t fun anymore.  Eggs, yogurt, and fruit are yummy, but I eat these at home.  When I go out, I want something different, something special, something that says, “It’s Saturday, sit back and relax.”

I had a chance to sit back and relax at The Pfunky Griddle with a friend.  After hearing rumors that they offered gluten-free pancakes, and I had to check this out myself.  When I got there, I found out that not only do they offer gluten-free pancakes, but they can also make sandwiches on Udi’s gluten-free bread!

At The Pfunky Griddle, you can make your own breakfast or lunch on a hot griddle that’s right in the center of your table.  Flip a few pancakes, French toast, or a grilled cheese sandwich.  Fry up some eggs with breakfast potatoes.  Or if you’d prefer to let the experts do the cooking for you, place and order, sit back, and wait for your sandwich, wrap (not gf), soup, or salad to arrive. You can check out their extensive menu here.

I had to try my hand at cooking at the tabletop griddle, but I had such a hard time deciding between making pancakes or French toast!

But the pancakes eventually won.

I admit that I was a little nervous about cross-contamination, but the griddle was cleaned thoroughly, and I didn’t have a gluten reaction afterwards.

On to the pancakes!

A whole pitcher of gluten-free pancake batter just for me!

My friend is not gluten-free, so she was sure to keep her gluten-filled grilled cheese sandwich far away from my pancakes!

The Pfunky Griddle offers 20 different toppings to choose from, including blueberries and pecans.

I promise, I did not eat all these pancakes, but it sure was fun making them!

And stacking them.  (Too bad you can’t take leftovers home!)

Thank you, Pfunky Griddle, for offering gluten-free breakfast options!

Check out The Pfunky Griddle at 2800 Bransford Ave. Nashville, TN near 100 Oaks Mall in Berry Hill.

  1. I want to go just for the funky name with the pfunky spelling! ;-) Seriously, what an interesting concept! How do they ensure that the toppings/fillings are not cross contaminated (are there no gluten-containing fillings) and what about flour/pancake mix in the air? In any regard, your pancakes look great and it sure sounds like a fun place. :-)

That sounds like something you would find in my city, New Orleans. We do have a great place in the French Quarter called Magnolia Grill. They don’t offer gf pancakes,:(, but Maxine the cook makes an excellent omelet that’s fluffy, light, and oh so good. She’s very knowledgeable and takes care of her gf customers.

I used to live in Nashville and frequently visit now. I was wondering how the pancakes were so now I know! I will def try it next time- I haven’t had pancakes since going GF!
