Home for the Holidays Winners!

2 Comments 20 December 2011

I thoroughly enjoyed reading what Home for the Holidays means to you.  You warmed my heart, made me laugh, and got me in the Christmas spirit. Here are a few of my favorite responses:

“Being a military family, we are very rarely home for the holidays. We are also from clear across the country from one another so we have to choose a coast if we do go home. It used to make me sad, but now we really focus on making memorable holidays for our children in our home. Very often we spend part of Christmas with our neighbors who are also away from their families.”

“…we have the best holidays! We may stay at home, but all of that time is spent with the family cuddling, playing games, making crafts, singing, (yes SINGING! Former musician here – family jams rock!) & most importantly watching EVERY STOP MOTION CHRISTMAS CLASSIC that comes on! (Think Rudolph!) My daughter swears she has the coolest, funnest mom. That makes my heart grow 2 sizes considering… That’s what home for the holidays is for us!”

“Home for the Holidays means getting to stay home for Christmas with my husband for the first time in our married life this year. I love getting to decorate my own house and be in control of the food we’re eating… I’m already feeling a difference in my health this year!”

“Home for the Holidays means…mornings & evenings with the family clumped around the fireplace, either Christmas music playing or a Christmas movie on TV, (we watch one each night in December) eggnog or cocoa, having Santa’s Cookie Factory where all the kids and their friends decorate cookies for the big man…older kids home from college, and on Christmas Eve, we have a picnic under the tree and play I-Spy with the ornaments. Each year, the kids have gotten an ornament that has a reminder of somethng that happened that year. When we play I-spy all the stories of the past are told in a kind of family oral history.”

“Home for the Holidays to me means being with family and friends. You can be anywhere with them and be ‘home’.”

“Home for the Holidays means to me in simpliest terms, FAITH & Family…”

Hello! I am writing because I love your website and I am actually in the process of launching my own. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease recently, and started as a way to keep myself organized as well as meet other gluten free people, and share what I have learned. The official launch party is coming up, and I am trying to spread the word. Tons of companies, including Kinnikinnick, Lucy’s and Bob’s Red Mill are giving away free products during the launch! I am asking if you could help spread the word in any way, from tweeting, to writing about it, Facebook, etc. People, yourself included, are encouraged to subscribe by email or through Google friend connect ASAP to get in on the giveaways! Thanks in advance!

  2. Those are such sweet responses. I love the one about playing I-spy with the Christmas ornaments. My daughter loves that game and we play it very, very often.

Congrats to all the winners! Great prizes :)

A Curious Girl in the Gluten-Free World

I'm a curious girl, wife, teacher, fitness fanatic, gluten-free foodie, high-raw vegan, and Mama Cat living in NYC. I've made the transition from baking and cooking gluten-free to creating raw vegan recipes that are naturally gluten free. My gluten intolerance opened up my diet to a whole new world of nutritious plant-based foods. While I'm not 100% vegan, it's my favorite way to eat, and making and sharing raw foods makes me giddy. Living in the City has its joys and challenges, and I enjoy sharing my experiences with you.
