Raw Foods Thursdays: 8/22/13

Welcome to Raw Foods Thursdays! I hope you’ve had a great week so far and that you’re enjoying this summer season when eating raw is so incredibly easy. Farmer’s Markets are thriving, huge zucchini beg for spiralizing, and it’s too hot to cook anyway. So did you get your raw on this week?

Last week was a delicious event, and here are a few of my favorites:

Raw Chili Dip by Janet of The Taste Space

Favorite Way to Start the Day

Black Forest Overnight Oats by The Womble

Favorite Noodle Dish

Favorite Protein Packed Treat

Favorite Twist on a Green Smoothie

Favorite Way to End the Day

Raw (Nut Free) Avocado Lime Tart Cups by Nom Yum & Free

This week I’m sharing my Chocolate Banana Chia Pudding. What do you have to share?

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Simply link up a raw foods recipe (see What is Raw Food?), mention Raw Foods Thursdays, and link back to this post so your readers can join in the fun!
  • Please link to the recipe, not to a blog’s home page, so we can all find your raw foods recipe.
  • You may link up a recipe that you’ve made in the past. Just make sure to share something different each time you participate.
  • Be sure to leave a comment letting us know who you are and what you’re sharing.
  • Feel free to use the Raw Foods Thursdays blog badge created by the lovely, talented Heather Peters!

What are Raw Foods Meals?

  • Plant-based meals that are not cooked.  Dehydrators may be used.  (The raw foods community has differing views on temperature, but the range is between 104 and 118 degrees.) Feel free to link up recipes that use a slightly higher temperature as long as they could be made at 118 with a longer dry time.
  • Raw Ingredients: vegetables, fruit, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, gluten-free sprouted grains, beans, and oils.

What isn’t raw?

  • Anything cooked or heated above 118.
  • Anything processed.  If it comes from a can or a package that lists more than one ingredient, chances are it’s not raw!
  • If your recipe contains an ingredient like maple syrup that makes your submission “almost raw”, please share it anyway. Raw sweeteners are easy to substitute.

  1. Hi Heather. Thanks so much for featuring my Raw (Nut Free) Lime Tart Cups this week!! I totally agree with you that it’s been way too hot to cook this summer, so your linky party has been a great find! Thank you again for the dehydrator tips. :) Have a wonderful weekend!!

  2. I don’t have a new recipe to add, but I love reading everyone else’s! :)

That Fig Mint Smoothie looks especially delicious. Happy Thursday!

  3. Sandra says:

Thanks for featuring my black forest gateau overnight oats again. I am really enjoying my twice weekly overnight oats posts. I don’t know if my banoffee pie one I have on my site today is raw enough to feature. If it is, I will post it later. Thanks again

  4. Hi Heather, thanks for hosting the link party! This week I shared my chocolate cherry zucchini shake (inspired in part by your suggestion to add zucchini to my morning smoothies!) Tastes just like a classic chocolate milkshake, but healthy enough for breakfast. And has a hearty helping of veggies to boot! :-)

Keep it totally raw by making your own almond milk and omitting the vegan whipped topping, or using a raw vegan version like the vanilla cashew sweet cream dessert topping on Chez Bettay.

Off to check out the other recipes (especially those date toffee puff balls–yum!)

    Hi Heather!

Thanks so much for hosting us! Wow those features are causing me some major tummy growls…

Today I shared a video I filmed on a recent road trip. Healthy travel tips, gorgeous sunsets, and the importance of just getting away from it all are under the hood!

I hope you have a fun weekend!

  6. Hello :)

    chia pudding – yes please!
I bring my Raspberries smoothie to the party!

  7. Marianne says:

Thank you for hosting. I’m brand new to blogging and I hope my Mint Chocolate Fudge is suitable for Raw Foods Thursdays.

  8. Quincy says:

Thanks so much for featuring me!
PS your chia pudding looks delicious! I’ve been making a lot of similar recipes lately, so I’m very excited to try this variation.

  9. Lauren says:

Hi Heather! I’m linking up my ice cream this week. I changed a few ingredients to reflect a raw recipe, but if I didn’t meet the guidelines, feel free to delete it. Thanks for hosting, and I hope you have a great weekend!

  10. Hi Heather, Thanks so much for visiting my blog and telling me about your wonderful Raw Foods Thursdays carnival. I brought my recipe to make your own Homemade Superfoods Chocolate Chia Protein Powder. Have a good weekend!

A Curious Girl in the Gluten-Free World

I'm a curious girl, wife, teacher, fitness fanatic, gluten-free foodie, high-raw vegan, and Mama Cat living in NYC. I've made the transition from baking and cooking gluten-free to creating raw vegan recipes that are naturally gluten free. My gluten intolerance opened up my diet to a whole new world of nutritious plant-based foods. While I'm not 100% vegan, it's my favorite way to eat, and making and sharing raw foods makes me giddy. Living in the City has its joys and challenges, and I enjoy sharing my experiences with you.
