How could fresh fruits NOT be gluten free?  They make the most delicious smoothies you’ll ever taste.  All ingredients, including protein powder, are gluten free.  And 9 Fruits is just a great place to be.  The owners are great guys who are focused on health and providing you with the best-tasting smoothie in town.  Stop in for a smoothie and a little brightness in your day.

A Matter of Taste
This new lunch spot offers 100% gluten-free sandwiches, soups, salads, and baked goods.  This is the only restaurant that I’ve ever been to where you have to specifically request “gluten bread” if you don’t want to eat gluten free!  Their gluten-free breads are incredibly tasty, and the sandwich fillings delish!  Imagine turkey with melted brie and tart apples.  Yum!

Amerigo
This Italian restaurant has a wonderful gluten-free menu that includes pasta!  My first experience there was a little nerve wracking (see my review here).  But as with all restaurants, make sure you ask enough questions of your server to make you feel comfortable with their level of gluten knowledge.  The food at Amerigo is wonderful.

Bonefish Grill
Favorite, favorite, favorite.  When you’re a California girl whose landlocked, it’s hard to please in the area of fresh seafood.  But Bonefish does it.  And their gluten-free menu is extensive.  Love, love, love.

Burger Up
Claiming to be more than an upscale burger joint, Burger Up certainly puts its burgers where its mouth is.  Getting their food from 10 local Tennessee farms, they care about where their food comes from and how animals are treated.  And the greatest news for the gluten-intolerant diner is that they provide delicious gluten-free buns made by Katie of Gfree Made Easy.  See my review here.

Cantina Laredo
Finally a Mexican restaurant where you can feel safe.  They have a gluten-free menu, and their tableside guacamole is out of this world.  Their dedicated fryer is only used for the tortilla chips, however, the manager claims that they can’t watch their employees at all times to be sure.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their chips and salsa and have never gotten sick.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill
Yeah Carrabbas!  Now all they need to do is get a gluten-free pasta in there.  It’s hard to go to any Italian restaurant and not be envious of those eating delectable pasta dishes.  Come on, all the cool kids are doing it!

Chili’s
Flashback to college.  If you can endure the noise, you can enjoy a gluten-free meal.  This cat is just getting a little too old.

Chipotle
Finally Chipotle has come to Nashville!  The Husband believes that you have him to thank as he suggested Nashville as a city ripe for Chipotle expansion more than a few times.  I’ll thank him and anyone else who wants to take credit.  Our experience is always delicious and gluten-safe.

Mad Donna’s
Located in East Nashville, this little bar restaurant offers the option of gluten-free bread for sandwiches and burgers.  And not just any gluten-free bread, incredible gluten-free bread by Aunt April’s Bakery.  While they don’t have a gluten-free menu, the chef can help guide you to their gluten-free menu items.  Wonderful fresh salads!  (Read my review here.)

Mafiaoza’s Pizzeria
Delicious gourmet pizzas using French Meadow gluten-free crusts.  Just as a LOT of questions and make sure they know you have a serious gluten allergy.  Read my review here.  They have to get better at cross contamination issues…

Maggiano’s Little Italy
I love their corn pasta.  Every time I’ve eaten at Maggiano’s the chef has come to my table to discuss my options.  There was a time that I was unable to eat soy or dairy, so the chef even modified the sauces to meet my dietary needs.  Delicious food all the time.

Matteo’s Pizzeria
Incredible gluten-free pizza.  Good thing Matteo’s is on my way home from work.  Even the Husband prefers this pizza over any others.  When my entire gluten-free family came to town to run with me in the Country Music Half Marathon, Matteo’s provided our recovery meal.  They ALL agreed it was the best pizza they’d ever eaten.

Mellow Mushroom
Yes, they have a gluten-free crust as well as a list of toppings that are guaranteed to be gluten-free.  It may take a little extra time, but it’s worth the wait.  On my last visit they were just about to launch into training their employees about preparing gluten-free pizzas.  So glad about that as our waiter had no clue and the manager had to come out and answer our questions.  Hey, it’s the “mushroom”.  But big things are ahead for this laid back pizzeria!

Midtown Cafe
Need a good date night restaurant?  The Husband took me out for birthday dinner at Midtown Cafe. The first words out of the waiter’s mouth were, “I hear that you have a gluten allergy. You can order anything from our menu, and we’ll make sure to make it gluten-free.”  Relax, know you’re safe, and have a great time.

Old Spaghetti Factory

Outback Steakhouse
Always a good standby, but don’t finish your meal.  Leave room for the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under – gluten-free brownie with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce.  It’s enough to make you feel “normal”.

Pei Wei Asian Diner
No time for P.F. Chang’s?  Make a quick stop for gf Asian food and dine in or take it home.  Love their Vietnamese Chicken Wraps.

P.F. Chang’s
How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways:  Chang’s Spicy Chicken, Chocolate Dome, Lettuce Wraps…  And here’s a little secret.  If you go when it’s not busy, and you have a good waiter, they can make almost anything on the menu gf for you.  I’ve actually had the Husband’s favorite Kung Pao made gf.

Porta Via Italian Kitchen

A new favorite.  In fact, it currently holds the title for BEST gluten-free pizza in the country.  And there are two locations right here in the Nashville area.  PortaVia has been certified by the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) organization, which has specific regulations for how Neapolitan pizza must be made.  And you’d never know that their crust was gluten free.

Red Pony Restaurant

If you’re looking for a nice restaurant to try in the Nashville area, I’d highly recommend Red Pony Restaurant in downtown Franklin. They serve high quality, southern comfort food. While they do not have a separate gluten-free menu, the waiters understand gluten, and if there are any questions they get their answers directly from the chef. See my review here.

The Pfunky Griddle
Love pancakes?  Grilled cheese?  French toast?  You can have it all gluten-free at the Pfunky Griddle.  You’ll have to cook it yourself on the grill in the middle of your table, but that’s the point of coming to The Pfunky Griddle!  Come hungry to this quirky little brunch hotspot in Berry Hill, because you can’t take leftovers with you!

Sam’s Sports Bar and Grill

This is a sports bar with a gluten-free menu containing appetizers, pizzas, burgers, chicken, and salads that are all made without gluten-containing ingredients. They are upfront about their shared kitchen stating “In general, if you are highly allergic to gluten, we only offer a gluten-free menu as a healthy option.” For more details, see my review here.

Taco Mamacita
These are not your ordinary tacos.  Think gourmet meets your wildest Mexican food cravings.  While many of their tacos are naturally gluten-free on corn tortillas, they now offer a gluten-free menu so you can feel comfortable with your choices.  I’m LOVING this new option for Nashville!

Woodlands Indian Vegetarian Cuisine

Woodlands is a delicious Indian restaurant with all vegetarian dishes.  While they do not have a gluten-free menu, much of the food is naturally gluten free, so you’ll have a lot of chose from.  The waitstaff is great at helping you find those gluten-free dishes.  See my review for more details.

The Wild Cow
Happy find in East Nashville!  Great vegetarian, vegan restaurant with an extensive gluten-free menu.  GREAT gluten-free bread for sandwiches as well as Chocolate Heaven Cake made by Aunt April’s Bakery.

The Yellow Porch
Absolute favorite special occasion restaurant.  The chef understands gluten and will steer you in the right direction.  Incredible ambiance, food that will tantalize your taste buds, and memories that last a lifetime.  Go there.
